About the Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet introduced the Traverse for the 2009 model year as a crossover replacement for the TrailBlazer SUV and Uplander minivan. Built on GM’s Lambda platform with the GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave, it offered three-row versatility and a smooth car-like ride.

Power came from a 3.6-liter V6 producing up to 288 horsepower through a six-speed automatic. A 2013 refresh added updated styling and improved technology. Families valued its space, comfort, and 116 cubic feet of cargo capacity, while rivals included the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Toyota Highlander.

The second-generation Traverse arrived for 2018 on GM’s C1XX platform with a stronger 310-horsepower V6 and nine-speed automatic. A short-lived 2.0-liter turbo-four appeared on the RS trim before being dropped. A 2022 update brought sharper styling and new tech like wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keeping it competitive with the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade.

The third-generation Traverse debuted for 2024 with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque, improving both performance and efficiency (20/27 mpg FWD). The redesign added bolder styling, a 17.7-inch touchscreen, available Super Cruise, and a more premium interior.

For 2025, Chevrolet dropped the base LS trim and added a top-tier High Country alongside the LT, Z71, and RS. Competing with the Honda Pilot, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Kia Telluride, today’s Traverse blends power, technology, and family-focused practicality in a refined three-row package.
