About the Buick Regal

Although Buick now sells only SUVs, the Buick Regal was one of Buick’s most long-lived models, being sold off and on for almost 50 years. Operating comfortably within the mid-size sedan segment for its entire production run, the Regal offers a roomy interior, upscale exterior design, and good operating economics.

When Buick stopped selling the Regal, it marked the end of 113 years of car sales in the United States by Buick. Fortunately, the six generations of development that the Regal enjoyed were enough to send this model out with a bang.

One way the Regal kept things exciting was with its powerful engine. Offering up to 310 horsepower on some models, the most powerful Regal could get up to 60 miles per hour in under six seconds, giving it the feel of a sports car instead of a luxury sedan.

Other mid-size sedans, including the Honda Accord, Acura TLX, Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, and Nissan Maxima, offer similar interior dimensions to the Regal. However, the Regal’s well-developed suspension and responsive steering helps it to stand out from these competitors in that it is very much a driver’s car, handling with precision on curvy roads.

The Buick Regal is also a very safe car, earning top ratings in multiple categories from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Add to that the creature comforts of heated leather seats, wireless charging, and a heated steering wheel, and it’s easy to see why so many drivers enjoy the Regal for in-town and cross-country driving.

If you’re on the lookout for a solid sedan that is packed with useful features, the Buick Regal deserves to be at the top of your list.
