About the Toyota Avalon
Long known as a luxurious full-size sedan, the Toyota Avalon first hit markets in 1995. As the largest Toyota sedan, the Avalon offers drivers plenty of interior space, including rear-seat leg room.
On top of that, the Avalon is focused on luxury, offering high-end leather seats, large infotainment screens, and a refined design that appeals to the luxury market. This slots the Avalon just below Lexus vehicles, which are Toyota’s premium-exclusive vehicles.
Over the course of its lifetime, the Avalon has gone through five different generations. The current generation shares its engine options with the Camry. In fact, as the Camry has continually become more luxurious, the differences between the Camry and Avalon have continued to narrow. That’s one reason why Toyota won’t be selling the Avalon in U.S. markets after 2022.
Those looking for a used Avalon may also consider the Honda Accord, Lexus ES, and Nissan Maxima.
In terms of safety, the Avalon performs well, earning a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Available safety features in the newest Avalon include a Bird’s Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan, a Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Intelligent Clearance Sonar with Rear Cross-Traffic Braking.
As mentioned, the spacious interior of the Toyota Avalon lures many drivers in. Passengers who need to ride in the rear seat will be treated to a cavernous 40.3 inches of legroom, while front-seat passengers get to enjoy 42.1 inches to stretch out. For a solid vehicle that gets you to where you’re going in style, there are few options better than the Toyota Avalon.
