About the Lincoln MKC

The Lincoln MKC debuted in 2015 as Lincoln’s first entry into the booming compact luxury crossover segment. This sophisticated SUV helped modernize Lincoln’s lineup and attract younger buyers to the historic American luxury brand.

Based on the Ford Escape platform, Lincoln engineers transformed the foundation with extensive modifications to create a distinctly upscale driving experience.

Power came from a choice of turbocharged four-cylinder engines: a standard 240-horsepower 2.0-liter or an optional 285-horsepower 2.3-liter unit. The MKC introduced Lincoln’s distinctive split-wing grille design and approach detection lighting, which created a welcoming LED light show as owners approached their vehicles.

The cabin showcased Lincoln’s commitment to luxury with Bridge of Weir leather seating (Aston Martin interiors use this leather), real wood trim, and active noise control technology. A THX II Certified audio system and panoramic sunroof were popular options that upgraded the premium atmosphere even more. The MKC also pioneered several tech features for Lincoln, including their smartphone app integration and enhanced park assist.

Primary competitors included the Acura RDX, BMW X3, and Lexus NX. The MKC stood out by offering American luxury character and competitive pricing in a segment dominated by European and Japanese brands. Sales remained steady throughout its production run, particularly appealing to buyers seeking a more understated take on luxury.

Manufacturing occurred at Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky, with additional units produced in China for that market. Lincoln discontinued the MKC after 2019, replacing it with the Corsair as part of their new naming strategy. During its run, the MKC earned recognition for its safety features and helped establish Lincoln as a serious contender in the competitive luxury crossover market.
