About the Lexus GX 460
The Lexus GX 460 is a luxury midsize SUV that has been in production since 2010. It is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform and is designed to offer a combination of off-road capability, luxury, and practicality.
The first generation of the Lexus GX, known as the GX 470, was introduced in 2002 and was powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine that produced 235 horsepower. It featured a body-on-frame construction, which made it more rugged and capable off-road than many of its competitors.
In 2010, Lexus introduced the second-generation GX, which was renamed the GX 460 to reflect its new 4.6-liter V8 engine. This engine produced 301 horsepower and was paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The GX 460 also featured a more modern and luxurious interior, with high-quality materials and advanced technology features.
One of the standout features of the GX 460 is its off-road capability. It comes standard with a full-time four-wheel-drive system, as well as features like a locking center differential, crawl control, and hill-start assist. It also has a generous ground clearance and approach and departure angles, making it well-suited for tackling rough terrain.
Inside, the GX 460 offers a spacious and luxurious cabin with seating for up to seven passengers. It features premium materials like leather upholstery and wood trim, as well as advanced technology features like a navigation system, premium audio system, and rear-seat entertainment system.
The Lexus GX 460 competes with other luxury midsize SUVs like the BMW X5, Infiniti QX80, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, and Land Rover Discovery. While it may not offer the same level of on-road performance or fuel efficiency as some of its rivals, it remains a popular choice for buyers who prioritize off-road capability and rugged durability.
