About the Kia Carnival
The Kia Carnival actually launched globally in 1998 as the Korean automaker’s entry into the minivan segment. In North America, the vehicle was sold under the Sedona nameplate from 2002 through 2021, while the Carnival name was used in most other markets, including Australia, where it became the country’s best-selling people mover during parts of the late 2000s and early 2010s.
Over its first three generations, the model evolved under split naming before Kia unified its global branding with the fourth generation.
The modern Carnival era began for the 2022 model year when North America adopted the Carnival name used globally for decades. This change went beyond branding, as the fourth-generation Carnival introduced a full redesign with SUV-inspired styling that intentionally moved away from traditional minivan proportions.
Measuring about 203 inches long, the Carnival features sharp lines and an upright, confident stance that positions it against segment leaders such as the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Chrysler Pacifica.
