About the Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai entered the three-row midsize SUV segment in 2020 with the Palisade, a bold move that immediately challenged established players. The company designed this flagship SUV to compete directly with the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Mazda CX-9. Hyundai’s strategy focused on offering more standard features and interior space at a lower price point than rivals like the Volkswagen Atlas.

The Palisade shares its platform with the Kia Telluride, though each vehicle has distinct styling and character. Hyundai gave the Palisade a more formal, upscale appearance compared to its Kia cousin. The interior impressed reviewers with high-quality materials, intuitive controls, and genuine third-row space that adults could actually use. Standard features at launch included an 8-inch touchscreen, multiple USB ports, and forward collision avoidance assist.

A significant refresh arrived for the 2023 model year, bringing updated exterior styling with a new grille design and LED lighting signatures. The interior gained a redesigned dashboard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen.

Hyundai added more advanced driver assistance features and improved connectivity. The powertrain remained a 3.8-liter V6 producing 291 horsepower, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

For 2025, the Palisade continues with minor updates while maintaining its value proposition. Front-wheel drive remains standard, with all-wheel drive available across trims. Trim levels include SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy. The top Calligraphy trim offers Nappa leather, ventilated second-row seats, and premium Harman Kardon audio.

The Palisade competes against the Mazda CX-90, Subaru Ascent, Honda Pilot, Toyota Grand Highlander, and Volkswagen Atlas in today’s market. Its combination of space, features, 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, and competitive pricing has made it a strong seller.
