About the Honda Passport
The Passport made its original debut in the early 1990s as Honda’s first foray into the SUV market in the United States. Initially, it was a rebadged Isuzu Rodeo, part of a partnership with Isuzu, allowing Honda to quickly offer an SUV to American consumers during the SUV boom. This first iteration of the Passport lasted until 2002, when it was replaced by the Honda Pilot.
After a long hiatus, the Passport name was revived in 2019 for a new midsize crossover SUV. Slotted between the CR-V and the Pilot in Honda’s lineup, the new Passport was designed to cater to buyers seeking more off-road capability and space than the CR-V offered, but without the need for the third-row seating found in the Pilot.
The revived Passport embraced a rugged and adventurous spirit, with a standard V6 engine and plenty of cargo space, making it a practical choice for active lifestyles.
The second-generation Passport was built on the same platform as the Pilot and the Ridgeline pickup truck, which provided a strong foundation for its on-road comfort and off-road proficiency.
