Weather and road conditions can change in a matter of minutes. Driving around with ineffective windshield wiper blades can be hazardous. Unlike other elements of a vehicle, like oil changes and air conditioning recharges that have regular maintenance schedules, wipers just wear out and need to be replaced.
Wipers can get warped in the cold, and will lose their flexibility in any climate over time. This will cause the wipers to have less contact with the windshield, and thus reducing their effectiveness.
With so many wiper sizes on the market, it can be confusing to find the correct wiper size. We have created this chart for the Ford Escape.

About the Ford Escape
The Ford Escape debuted in North America for the 2001 model year as Ford’s entry into the growing compact SUV market. This crossover represented Ford’s strategic move away from traditional truck-based SUVs toward more fuel-efficient, car-based platforms.
Built on the CD2 platform co-developed with Mazda and shared with the Mazda Tribute (and the Mercury Mariner in later years), the Escape offered consumers a practical alternative that combined SUV versatility with car-like handling.
Ford designed the first-generation Escape with a focus on urban practicality and light off-road capability. The vehicle featured a distinctive, boxy-yet-angular design that set it apart from competitors like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, Saturn Vue, and Pontiac Aztek.
Available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, the Escape quickly gained popularity among families and young professionals who needed cargo space without the bulk of larger SUVs.
A significant refresh arrived for the 2008 model year rather than a full redesign, bringing more refined styling, an updated interior, and modest improvements in fuel economy. This updated first generation also introduced Ford’s SYNC infotainment technology and enhanced safety features.
During this time, the Escape competed directly with the updated CR-V and RAV4, maintaining strong sales until its eventual full redesign.
The second generation (a complete redesign for North America) debuted for the 2013 model year. This version replaced the boxy styling with a more aerodynamic, rounded appearance inspired by Ford’s global Kuga model.
It emphasized fuel efficiency and interior space maximization, and introduced features like MyFord Touch and more advanced powertrains, helping the Escape remain competitive against rivals such as the Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4.
Ford introduced the current fourth-generation Escape for the 2020 model year, built on the Ford C2 platform it shares with the Bronco Sport, Maverick, and global Ford Kuga. This generation offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options alongside updated technology.
Throughout its evolution, the Escape has maintained its position as one of America’s best-selling compact SUVs, adapting successfully to changing consumer preferences while preserving the practical attributes that made it popular from the beginning.
