About the Buick Envision
The Buick Envision made its debut in China during August 2014, going on sale that October in a market where Buick commands significant respect. American buyers got their first look at the compact crossover during the North American International Auto Show in January 2016.
The Buick Envision debuted in North America for the 2016 model year, bridging the gap between the smaller Encore and larger Enclave in Buick’s SUV lineup, with Premium I and Premium II trims featuring a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine producing 252 horsepower paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The first-generation Envision expanded to five trim levels by 2017 and received a facelift for the 2019 model year.
General Motors introduced a completely redesigned second-generation Envision in May 2020 as a 2021 model, sharing the E2 platform with the Cadillac XT4. This overhaul brought a new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission with standard all-wheel drive.
Four trim levels arrived: base, Preferred, Essence, and the premium Avenir designation. Buyers cross-shopping the Envision typically considered the Lexus NX, Acura RDX, Audi Q5, and Lincoln Corsair.
