About the Audi TT
When the Audi TT concept debuted at the 1995 Frankfurt Motor Show, it instantly captivated automotive enthusiasts with its Bauhaus-inspired design philosophy. The production version arrived for the 2000 model year with remarkably few changes from the concept, launching first as a coupe and followed by a roadster. Built on Volkswagen’s PQ34 platform shared with the Golf and A3, the original TT offered turbocharged four-cylinder and VR6 engine options.
Buyers considering the TT often cross-shopped the BMW Z3 and later Z4, the Mercedes-Benz SLK, Mazda Miata, and the Porsche Boxster. Early models faced a high-speed stability controversy, which Audi addressed by adding electronic stability control, a fixed rear spoiler, and suspension revisions to all subsequent production models.
