About the Audi RS7
The Audi RS7 debuted in 2014 as the brand’s flagship four-door performance machine. Built on the sleek A7 Sportback platform, the RS7 combined fastback elegance with serious muscle courtesy of Quattro GmbH, Audi’s high-performance division. A twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 delivered 560 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic and the legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system.
The result? Zero to 60 mph in about 3.9 seconds. This first generation ran through the 2018 model year and squared off against formidable rivals like the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG S-model.
After a two-year hiatus, the second-generation RS7 arrived for 2021. The redesigned model retained the twin-turbo V8 but increased output to 591 horsepower. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system improved efficiency and throttle response.
Standard rear-wheel steering sharpened handling and made the big sportback feel lighter than its nearly 5,000-pound curb weight suggested. Air suspension with adaptive dampers balanced comfort and agility depending on driver preference.
Audi raised the stakes for 2024. The standard RS7 was discontinued, replaced by the RS7 Performance as the sole trim. Larger turbochargers and increased boost pressure pushed output to 621 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. Engineers also removed 18 pounds of sound deadening, shaved weight with optional forged 22-inch wheels, and retuned the center differential for sharper response. The 0-60 mph sprint dropped to just 3.3 seconds.
For 2025, the RS7 Performance continues largely unchanged. Buyers cross-shopping in this rarefied segment typically consider the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, Mercedes-AMG GT 63, Porsche Panamera Turbo, and Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing.
