About the Audi RS3
The Audi RS3 represents the ultimate evolution of the A3 platform, combining everyday practicality with supercar-level performance. It first appeared in 2011 as a limited-production hot hatch for the European market, powered by a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-five engine paired with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system.
Producing 340 horsepower, the original RS3 Sportback shared its distinctive five-cylinder engine with the TT RS and quickly earned praise for its unique sound and explosive acceleration.
The second generation arrived in 2015 with output raised to 367 horsepower and improved performance across the board. For the first time, the RS3 was offered as a sedan, and it finally reached the U.S. for the 2017 model year.
The decision to bring only the sedan version reflected American market preferences, while giving enthusiasts a direct rival to the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and a more attainable alternative to the BMW M2. Equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and launch control, the RS3 sedan could sprint from 0-60 mph in about 3.9 seconds, making it one of the quickest compact cars of its time.
